Ready? Set. Go! Several hundred First Church members have taken the challenge of reading the Bible cover to cover in 90 days. Many more have committed to reading shorter portions every day. Larger and smaller groups, students and families, are gathering throughout the city for rich conversation and deepening friendships.

In a culture where the family dinner table is increasingly an “endangered species”, First Church families are making time to sit down and read the Scriptures together.

Luther called the Bible “the cradle in which Christ Himself is found”. Getting into the Bible, reading it sequentially, watching the essential unity of God’s Story play out: it’s a spiritual practice that never fails to pay dividends. It’s one of those habits that each of us who wear the Name of Christ needs to make our own.
