Worship + Connection!

Home > Reflections > Worship + Connection!

Dr. Craig Dykstra, VP of Religious Affairs at the Lily Endowment in Indianapolis, challenged a group of pastors recently with this question: What do you want for your people? What do you pray for your people? It’s an expansive question that invites serious reflection, don’t you think?

Paul speaks of “the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord.” As a matter of first priority, he says, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings…”

That’s the apostolic response to Dr. Dykstra’s question. And in a nutshell, it’s my prayer for First Church –and for my own family. Such a life is cultivated by worship and an authentic connection within the Christian community.

That’s why FPC is emphatic about encouraging a serious commitment to weekly worship and an intentional link to some “Life-Group” within this congregation.

So come on: make the resolve: Worship and Connection…..to the Body of Christ!
